Remote Access of Linux KDE Desktop – Don’t waste your time with VNC

I am setting up a new home server and before I install final headless software, I am doing burn in tests where I am using a desktop install (Kubuntu specifically). I wanted to set up remote access for the desktop. Played with different VNC servers and clients and experienced terrible latency issues on a multi-gigabit LAN connection. The easiest and best solution for remote access to KDE desktop is xrdp. Just install xrdp, sudo systemctl start xrdp, note the port specified (3389 by default) and connect from your remote machine with <hostname>:3389. I am using krdc on the remote machine as RDP client. Everything works great with barely any lag or latency.
